Ooh, Watch Me!

My husband always laughs that I am “un-saturatable.” He can’t understand how I can watch the same Lifetime movie 10 times - clearly not getting the appeal of watching an obsessed lunatic stalk a likeable-but-clueless target. “We’ve already seen this one,” he says and tries to reach for the remote during a Criminal Minds or SVU marathon. “I know, but it’s so good!” I reply, holding firmly onto the remote and pressing record before I let him change the station. (Yes, I know – I’m awesome.) He is baffled by how I can listen to the same songs I’ve been listening to for the last 20 years (gulp). What can I say? Familiarity is comforting. And music was way better back then.

Perhaps that explains why, despite my ever-changing wardrobe and a lunch box full of quirky jewelry, I usually stick to a few beloved accessories. My black choker, my silver vintage necklace, and a couple of pairs of earrings. Bracelets usually don’t fit right, so my wrists remain regrettably bare. That all changed a couple of weeks ago with the arrival of a small package.

“You have a present, Mommy!” Ruby exclaimed as soon as I walked through the door from work. “Can I open it?” She pointed to the unopened brown box. “Not right now,” I said in an unsuccessful attempt to dissuade her. I knew the box contained my new watch, and I did not want anything to happen to it. I had been graciously invited to review Jord’s new Frankie 35 series featuring smaller faces. Ruby was so excited, and truthfully so was I, that I relented. (Flora looked on from her activity chair, drooly and adorable as ever.) With dramatic flair, I slid open the delightful wooden box. Wrapped around the world’s cutest pillow was a gorgeous wooden timepiece.

“Can you put it on?!” Ruby pleaded. I slid it over my wrist only to discover that it was too tight. I must have measured my wrist wrong. I wasn’t concerned because extra links were also in the box. I managed to distract Ruby with Calliou while I put an extra link in the band. Much, much better.

I couldn’t be happier with the design and comfortable fit of the Frankie 35 zebrawood and navy watch. The face is the perfect size for my wrist. The navy color is surprisingly versatile. A fashion statement that is also useful in telling time? I think is another thing that I will be “un-saturatable” on. This time, Brian understands.

Isn't the Jewel Box a gorgeous location?
I get lots of "I don't know how you walk in those!" comments whenever I rock these shoes. The chunky platform and padded insole actually make them super-comfortable. Definitely one of my faves right now!
I got this purse on my honeymoon.
